Solution

1. The EarthLink, Propel, and People PC, accelerators are known to cause this problem.
  • Turn it off when downloading eBooks
  • To turn off the EarthLink Accelerator: Right click on it's icon in your Windows taskbar, and select "Disable EarthLink Accelerator".
  • To turn off the Propel Accelerator: Propel Accelerator has a menu item: "Disable Propel Accelerator"
  • A user reports that they use OnSpeed and even though they had it turned off they discovered they had to list Adobe.com in the "bypass proxy settings for these Hosts and Domains" in my internet proxy preferences.

2. HTTP proxy servers can also cause this problem
3. Pop-up blocker software could possibly interfere with eBook downloads.
  • Try turning it off temporarily and trying to download again.

4. The Internet Explorer cache has been known to cause problems with eBook downloads.
  • In IE: Tools menu > Internet Options... > General tab > "Temporary Internet File" section > Delete Files > Delete All Offline Content : turn the checkbox on and click: OK
Warning: If you have saved offline versions of Web sites, you will lose them
  • In IE: Tools menu > Internet Options... > General tab > "Temporary Internet File" section > Settings >"Check for newer versions of stored pages" : select "Every visit to the page" and click OK
Once you are able to successfully download eBooks, you may be able to set this back to "Every time you start Internet Explorer" or "Automatically"
